Welcome to theGYSE! My name is Kobie. I'm from Australia, and I'm a self confessed addict to the backpacking phenomenon. This blog was originally written to help inspire and inform young women about the fun, ease and advantages of backpacking solo.

After backpacking by myself (unintentionally) in Europe in 2010, I arrived home to an array of friends and family that were shocked at what I had achieved by myself, even though I didn't see it as a big deal at the time! Everyone seemed to be asking the same questions, especially about travelling alone - and as much as I loved talking about backpacking, I was starting to sound like a broken record... so I thought 'why not write it all in a blog', and it has slowly grown into an informative travel resource for anyone looking for answers and ideas of how to explore the world on the smallest of budgets!
